Installing Turn Indicators

I recently purchased a used Hyundai gas golf cart in very good condition. It has front lights and front parking lights & rear taillights. When the front lights are on, the front parking lights are also on. Thus, when I flick the toggle switch for the lights on the steering column, all six lights are on at the same time - thus everything is wired in series. I tried installing turn indicators yesterday and now when I flick the turn indicator lever down (no matter left or right turn of course) everything turns on and off as in emergency lights on a car. I can not get just the front parking lights and rear lights (not the headlights also) to blink just on the one side for right or left turns only - all six lights are blinking at the same time. I followed the directions that came with the golf cart lights for installation. I also found numerous wiring diagrams for Hyundai gas golf carts, but none showed all six lights in the wiring. The diagrams showed only one each of the parking, rear, and headlights, not the wires going to all six lights to better help me understand how they are wired. Any help would be appreciated in how to wire this golf cart so just the correct lights on one side would blink (and not all six at the same time) and the headlights would not blink - and the light switch would still allow me to turn on all six lights when I wanted the lights at night. Thank you for anticipated assistance.

It definitely sounds like the turn signals aren't wired correctly. Did the turn signals and turn signal switch come with the light kit? Can you post a picture of the wiring diagram you're using?

The parking lights and tail lights that I am attaching to were already attached in the cart and working when I purchased a turn signal kit that fit on the steering wheel . Attached is the wiring diagram that came with the signal kit. Thus each of the lights has two wires going to it. I tried hooking to the wire that pigtailed off a main wire on each light. When I did that all lights and the headlight blinked at the same time. Then I removed the two back wires and hooked them to the other wire attached to the taillights. All front and back lights still blinked at the same time. I then did the same thing to the other of the two wires originally made into the front parking lights (pigtailed into the wire as I had done to all the rest). This time they did not blink by once and the burned out the fuse that came with the signal kit. That is where I am currently. 2991DSCF2019.JPG

You'll need 3 wire dual element light sockets for any lights to be on that have turn signals connected to them and have the lights and turn signals work at the same time.
