Installing EZGO RXV Forward and Reverse Cable

Installing a new forward and reverse cable on a EZGO RXV, having issues. 1st cable pulled the black Teflon line out of the crimped part of the cable, from what I've read start in neutral. Do you have the jam nuts 50/50 on the threads and have a few threads on the eyelet on the f/r switch and I know both of the springs on each side of the mount on rear-end selector.
Any tips would be great
