I have purchased a used Club Car and am trying to find the model and date of manufacture of the car and batterys. I noticed a stamp on the battery post of H1. This is I think is a date but how do you read it? I have looked for an information plate but so far have not found one for the car.

On Club Car Golf Carts prior to 1981, you can find the serial number by raising the seat and looking on the aluminum, I-beam frame section closest to the batteries on the driver's side of the cart. On the newer carts it's on a plate just under the dash between the steering wheel and the passenger side glove box. The first 2 numeric characters in the serial # identify the year.

The age of the batteries (the way I read it) is August 2001 (A=Jan., B=Feb., etc.) That's how my Trojans are marked.

Thanks for the info. I saw that sticker but didn't read the small print. The number is AC0147-093600. Does that mean it was built from Jan. to Mch. of 01?

It indicates that the cart is a 2001. That "model year" starts in the fall of 2000 and ends in the fall of 2001 (like a automobile model year). The first two alpha characters in the Serial # (AC) do not indicate month it was built. Not sure what they indicate. If I find the compllete serial # breakdown, I'll post it. Someone with more experience may know off the top of their head, but I don't.

If the batteries are Trojan and you assume they are the original ones, made in August of 2001 (H-01), then I would guess the cart was built in late 2001 model year, possibly between August and October.

For clarification of battery manufacture date code:
A=Jan
B=Feb
C=Mar
D=Apr
E=May
F=Jun
G=Jul
H=Aug
etc.

Again, 01 is the year 2001

Makes sense now?
 
THE AC INDICATES THAT THE CLUB CAR IS "DS ELECTRIC GOLF CAR 48 VOLT REGEN.
hOPE THAT HELPS AS MANY CONTROLING PARTS WILL BE DIFFERENT THAN STANDARD CAR.
 
Thanks for clearing this up for me. The batteries have some swelling and I notice the tops are sometimes wet but other than that, they charge well and cart runs well except at slow speed. It tends to lurch some when slow. What is the difference between a Regen and a regular cart?
 
Regen stands for regenerative braking. It keeps the cart from free wheeling down hill and is supposed to put a small charge into the batteries. The motor acts as a generator when the regen kicks in.
 
Could the age of batteries contribute to the lerching or should I start looking for another cause? I have learned a lot about this cart the last few days but not enough to begin trouble shooting problems yet.
