Well, my 48V Carryall needs new batteries, old ones are 2001, and was quoted 156.50 each for trojan 8V!!! I swear when I bought them back in '01 they cost less than 50.00. What gives? Is this price for real? The battery dealer assured me it was, and in addition will be going up another xx% by May, '10. Man, this is really making me think hard about going to a gasser. Any input on this? Thanks in advance!

Look into a different brand of battery. US Battery, Crown, Exide etc. You should be able to find them for around $100. Even the 8v GC batteries as Sam's Club are only $80 each.
 
I went with 6 volt interstates on a recommendation I got on this forum and couldn't be happier.
