Hi All

Newbie on here from Australia!

The steering on my Hyundai golf cart is very loose and can't seem to tighten it up? There is about 2 inchs of play before it starts to turn. Any ideas would be greatly appreacted.

Welcome to the forum...

It could be a few different things causing the play. With the cart sitting on the ground have someone rock the steering wheel back and forth while you look under the cart at the steering. It's either going to be the tie rod ends, steering box or possibly both where the play is coming from. If that all checks out ok jack the cart up and grab the front tires and see if you can rock them back and forth or up and down. You should be able to see where the play is...

Thanks for a quick responce,

Looks like it might be the steering box as the tie rods look OK, there is a ticking noise coming from the steering column just below the steering wheel which seems a bit odd.

I have a very basic manual that I found on the net and it does show an adjusting screw and bolt but I can move them either way?

If there's a adjustment on the steering box turning it clockwise should tighten it up. Don't go to tight or the steering will bind. Your best bet would be jack the front up and start adjusting until the slack is gone. If you start to feel the steering bind back off until the steering turns free. I'd like to see the manual you found on the web. Do you have a link or you can email it to me...

Thanks!!

i have the same problem on my 1991 hyundai and i found out that it was the stteering drop arm off the box. there was alot of play i had to remove it and put a new one on. and that fixed the problem.
