how far between drive clutch and driven clutch

I am putting a 16hp duromax motor and a drive clutch and driven clutch that i have bought from Northern tools in a 95 CC. I have not received the clutches as of yet, but they will be here soon. I have not bought a belt but would like to go ahead and build a motor mount and would like to know about how far between the motor shaft and the rear end shaft that it needs to be?

I moved the post for you. I'm not sure what the distance is. I guess it would depend on which belt your using. Hopefully someone else will chime in and give you some help..

I'm not familiar with that motor, but there isn't alot of wiggle room in CC's. What clutches are you using?

You need to throw your engine in the hole and have a look first. get an idea where it's going to have to go. measure the distance between clutches and get a belt that is close but not much bigger. when you get your belt then you can nail it down where it goes. i mocked my engine mount up and decided where it was going to fit. then i ordered a belt. when it came icould then line it up, and set the distance and height of the motor relative to the transaxel, and the driven clutch. does that help?

Caddie, yes that helped, thanks. I had to order a factory drive clutch and a factory driven clutch and a tapered shaft adapter from Tom at Carts Plus. He said that he did not have a belt that would fit but if i checked around on this forum, i could get some ideas from everybody on here. He said that he thought some people were using a belt off of honda odyesses. Do you know anything about this?

The best advice I have is to get a soft cloth tape, like a tailor would use. Measure around the inside of the drive clutch and the outside of the driven, then add 2 inches. That should be very close. If you can slot your mounting holes even a little bit that will also help. I have an excel spreadsheet I made when belt shopping of Carlisle belts, mainly for snow mobiles, that is sorted by width and length. I can E-Mail it to you or if a mod here wants to look into posting it on here somehow that would be fine too. It helped me out a lot. Now I just look for ones on Ebay from time to time and pick up cheap ones for spares....
