Hello, I am new to this forum.
I have a electric E-Z- GO Golf Cart how do I test the motor?

MODEL NO. X440-4GE
SERIAL NO. 944X1175
MFG. NO. 394-1462T

Looks like everything is working but the motor wont run.
Cart is off the ground so wheels are not on the ground,
I have 36v, the solenoid is activating, I used an AMP meter
between the motor and battery cable large amount or current.
The tag on the motor is faded and unreadable. How do I test the motor?
Thank You

Your golf cart would be a series system. Here's instructions for testing a series electric golf cart motor. Welcome to the forum. :hattip:

SERIES wound golf cart motor test:
Jack the rear tires of the ground and put the cart on jack stands.
Remove the main positive and negative cables form the battery pack.
Spray the 4 studs on the motor with a little penetrating oil...
Mark the cables then remove all four cables from the motor (use a wrench to hold the jam nuts)
Put a jumper wire from a "A" terminal to an "S" terminal. (Example: A1 to S1).
Then hook a 12 volt battery or 12 volt battery charger in the 15+ amp range to the remaining "A" and "S" terminal (Example A2 and S2)
If the motor spins it's good

Can anybody in the forum please tell what year model
my golf cart is by looking at the numbers in the beginning
of this thread.

I think it's a 1975 but I could be wrong the older EZGO used a different dating system. If you call Buggies Unlimited and give them the serial number they can tell you for sure.

I did the motor test last night with every thing disconnected
and the motor works perfect.

I think my cart is wired wrong.

Motor A1 is connected to the throttle controller
Battery + is connected to the F/R switch
Solenoid is connected to the F/R switch

This is how it came when I bought it.
I can't find a wiring diagram that shows
which terminal each motor wire is connected
to on the F/R switch.

Please help

MODEL NO. X440-4GE
SERIAL NO. 944X1175
MFG. NO. 394-1462T

Thank you

I reconnected all the wiring as in the diagram.
I now have:

Motor S1 is connected to the top terminal on the F/R switch
Motor A1 is connected to the left terminal on the F/R switch
Motor A2 is connected to the left terminal on the F/R switch
Motor S2 is connected to the negative terminal on battery
Motor A1 is connected to the bottom terminal on the F/R switch
Battery + is connected to the solenoid

still won't run

When the solenoid activates does it have full battery pack voltage on both of the large terminals? If not try jumping the 2 large posts on the solenoid with a 6 gauge or larger cable and see if the cart runs.

Yes, I have full voltage on both of the large terminals.
A very large drop in voltage.
I'm not confident I have it wired right.
The past ownership of this cart saw many different
owners failing to get it running. The person I bought
it from gave up and was going to gut it out and convert
it to a gas motor. it is so messed up from all the various
people hacking at it. I will never give up, I want electric.

Your best be would be use the wiring diagram you have and check ALL of the wiring. That's really about all you can do if the cart has had the electrical system hacked on by several previous owners.
