High Speed Gears and D&D High Torque Motor

I have Yamaha G-16 electric golf cart that I'm going to put a Jake's long travel lift kit on, with 25" tires. I'm changing out the motor with a D&D high torque motor and a 500 amp Alltrax controller. I'm thinking of changing the gears in the differential to high speed 8:1 or 6:1 ratio. Will the torque gained in the above mods be completely lost with the gear ratio chenge or will there be some torque and speed gains?

IMO it is a waste of money doing a high torque motor coupled with a high speed gear.
If you change the gearing you will lose all that you got with the high torque/low speed motor.

If you are looking for about 30% speed and torque gains, consider a changing from 36 volts to 48 volts.
