What is the wattage of head lights used most electric carts? Most lights at the auto supply are 55w. Is this to much? Will this drasticly shorten my run time?

I think 35-55 watts is fine. I would suggest using a extra 12 volt battery to power the accessories to help with run time and overall battery life.
 
Yes, thats how I have both of my own carts set up. I mounted a tray on the left side where the space is for storing the charger and used a group 24 deep cycle. It's a pain having to charge a seperate battery but it will help your cart batteries stay in balance and should increase their life span.
