i was installing a hd. buss bar kit in my switch this weekend, and think i created a new problem.
(when i first wired it back up i switched around the pos and neg main connections for a few seconds and smoke rose from the top of solenoid area could not tell where from , only the resistor was hot to touch)

switch and all wiring is hooked up, and now it doesnt move again, the solenoid clicks but the motor doesn't come on at all. ive checked i think every wire on it over and over they all are in the right place.

I jumped the controller and it does nothing; I jumped the solenoid and that doesn't even click when I try to jump it but it does if I use the pedal.

any ideas? is the controller good if it doesnt move when jumped?

There's a good chance the smoke you saw was from the controller. How did you jump the controller? Did you jump the large posts on the solenoid?

using a 4 ga wire i touched it to the b- and the m-, and nothing so i pushed the pedal and did it and nothing also .
also i unhooked the wires going to m-,b- and tried same way and nothing
the solenoid the 2 big post , same way would not even click , but when not trying to jump and pushing the pedal it clicks!

well the alignment of the studs was right but with the new buss bars it throws off the alignment, and messing with it i found after putting it in forward you have to push it back some to get it to work. also that was with the tires off waiting to put a lift on it , so who knows what will happen with tires on something might change

hahaha

hot rod i seen in another post about buss bars you stated make sure the studs or bolts are flush on the switch (not the cam part) if not replace ,the board wears out. question is when you buy new bolts are they 4 different one's for the switch board versus the cam part, cause i had bought a couple extra in case one broke but not thinking when i ordered them they are way thicker then the others so i have not used them, but they sit way above flush?

The buss bars shouldn't have changed the forward and reverse switch travel. Make sure the two stops are making contact like they should. The studs are the same in the cam and the board but after time the contacts wear so if you replace one or two the new contact studs they'll be thicker than the older contacts.
