Golf Cart Slow To Start

We have a gas powered dump cart / golf cart that's slow to start. Our problem is when we turn the ignition on and press the gas pedal. When doing so the motor will sometimes engage right away and we drive away. Many other times when stepping on the pedal the engine will whine for a while, maybe try to kick over while still whining. After pressing the pedal several times or holding it down for a while it will eventually start moving. The battery connections were corroded so I cut the battery cables near the battery and replaced all the connections there, and the battery is relatively new and in good condition. There is plenty of gas in the cart, oil is clean and at appropriate levels. We have had this problem since we bought it and I was wondering what could be the problem.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Welcome Jeremy :hattip: is the engine not turning over when it makes the whining sound, or is the engine running and just not engaging? what kind of cart is it.

I wasn't sure what model it was when I posted this which is why I put it in the other category. However it is an ez-go model.

Cool, well I figured the easiest way to solve the problem would be to post a video with sound, yay. Trying to describe a sound is a pain in the butt lol.

I'll definitely check out the belt.

Thanks,
Jeremy
