Golf cart drag race

Did you see the video Nate? If you haven't, let me know, I can send it to you. I don't know how or if I can post on here. The first time out with the 340 it had the stock seat and a lap belt. Wore it on the first pass. But then I started wondering if I really wanted to be strapped to it if something should happen. Needless to say,I didn't use the belts till I installed the cage and seat. What happened to the 340 that night was a combination of things. It was so late at night (12:00pm) dew settled on the track and the driver hit the brakes to hard, tried to slow down way to fast at the top end so he wouldn't break out. I also run Jr dragster slicks on the rear. But I'm not really convinced that street tire would have had any more bite than the slick. Traveling at that speed and dew on the track don't think tires would have made a difference.

Is there a link to the video? I would like to see this. I am always listening to what others say when they have an accident. My cart already scares me but I keep making it go faster. Kind of a contradiction isn't it.

Who would ever have guessed five years ago that a golf cart could give an adrenalin rush!

I know what ya mean Nate. Some of us need the rush. My race car is a 1923 T altered dragster, mild small block Chevy, and runs 9.60's @ 137mph. First run every year, I get back to the trailer and get out of the car with the shakes. After a couple of runs I'm ok. But anyway, here is the crash http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mu0wWyWaxc Race Carts 101, do not apply to much brakes on a damp surface! Watching this happen that night gave me quite the adrenalin rush. Scared the crap out of me. Here is another one of me doing a short wheelie at a Sunday race in July. Saturday I was able to go the full 1/4 mile on two wheels in both lanes back to back. Top speed on the 340 is 46mph. I have right and left brake levers to steer when I'm on the rear wheels. That gets interesting sometimes paying attention and pulling on the right lever http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvU2itEnxWs Thanks HotRod, I'm new to forums and the how to's.

The cart in the crash video is one bad boy for sure. It's a wonder the driver wasn't seriously hurt. Very nice watching him run down the stocker with 3/4 track spot LOL....

It appears the roll cage did its thing, any detailed pictures on where it attaches to your cart? To come out of that type of wreck with little injury is impressive!

I sure wish we lived closer, the racing part looks like a blast!

Hey classycarts, see if this phrase sounds familiar to you. "If you can't beat'em then ban'em".

Yes, the wheelie contest! That sucked when they told me I could be in it but I couldn't compete. I could have put $500 to good use. It funny because most cars that enter can't pull the front wheels off the ground. Oh well.
