Getting Fuel in the Oil

I bought a mid 90's (92-96) Club Car golf cart a few years back, played around with for a day or two and parked it. It is a Club Car DS with a Kawasaki FE290D motor. I have started drag racing and would like to take it to the track so I dont have to walk so much and maybe tow a car in the pits from time to time. I have done alot of work to the body and seats, stripped it down to the frame power washed it and put it back together, changed all the fluids replaced the coil and spark plug, new fuel filters. The people I bought it from had it running very fast, they removed the rev limiter and governor. It ran alright for the first day then started running like crap so I parked it and forgot about it and am now trying to get it going again. It was getting fuel in the oil so I put a new fuel pump on it, cleaned the carburetor and put the airbox back on it. Not sure if it is still getting fuel in the oil havent run it a whole lot. It does'nt want to run very well seams like it hesitates and chuggs along and goes slow about half throttle it runs the best. Not sure what to do. No lift and has stock wheels and tires.

Ok got to spend some time playing with it, I took off the air intake hose and it runs great with an open carb, put the air intake hose back on and it runs like crap. It has a brand new K&N air filter in it, any ideas how to get more air with the stock air intake? Hoping to be able to keep the choke option for cold starts. Any aftermarket chokes made for these? I had problems with run on once I stopped but I was able to adjust throttle cable so starter engages and then the carb butterfly opens and now it shuts off when you let off the pedal.

hi double
hey its been a few yrs back but i had a similar problem with mine after taking off the air box and come to find out that if the air box hose isn't put on correctly it will catch on the flap for the choke and hold the choke shut or almost shut.Like i said its been a few yrs so i don't remember exactly what i did wrong but i know it had to do with the flap for the choke..mine is a few yrs newer,2001..
and the choke is by my left leg (big black button)..i assume yours is the same..but the flap is right inside that button..good luck and hope that helps ya....

Well I put a round K&N air filter on it and it runs great. I have put a couple miles on it driving it around the neighborhood and luckily no problems. I can put the old air box back on and it will hardly run. It just does'nt get enough air, it will do about 25 mph when it is getting air to the carb.

Took it to the track friday night and ran it around worked great, alot less walking. Had any where from just my self to up to 7 people on it at a time. The only problem I have now is i put a set of heavy duty rear springs on it and now the brake cables are binding and not releasing all the way so they drag the whole time. Any ideas?
