ok,i popped the side case off and my cam fell out..no marks for alignment so i set the valves closed at tdc and bdc..is this wright?

i'm not a Yamaha dude but its gotta have marks, a tooth off either way and it wouldn't run. i'm yet to run across a gear driven cam that wasn't

These are a bit tricky. There are marks on the cam and balance shaft but there may only be one mark on the crankshaft.

I remember the crank being at tdc then point the cam and balance shaft marks at the center of the crankshaft.

Also may just be dots on the crank. I remember this engine being different than any engine I have ever timed.

I have the book for g9 and g2 service. g1 is in my head still.
