G22A been sitting 3 years

I just took possession of an 03 G22A that has been sitting for 3 years in a garage. I tried to start it, expecting nothing and that's what I got, nothing. There seems to be enough juice in the battery for the alarm to sound when in reverse but nothing happens when in forward and the pedal is pushed.

Where do I start to get this machine running? In addition to charging the battery I assume I should drain the tank and replace the fuel filter. Any other items I need to address in preparation for selling this cart?

Thanks,

Stuart

I would try to charge the batt., but don't get yer hopes up. Drain the gas and check the pick-up hose in the tank. I played hell on an '05 and found the tube had melted together in the bottom of the tank. If yer lucky, ya won't have to clean the carb.

I JUST repaired a G16 that sat up that long, and the battery did exactly the same thing. Buzzer sounded, but way too weak to attempt start. I hooked up jumper cables, and I checked the fire first, and I had a really weak spark, but it was firing. I tried getting it to fire with a little B-12 in the intake, and it didn't try to do much. I changed the spark plug, still nothing really. I checked compression and had 30 psi. I figured valves may need to be adjusted, ran valves and set them to .010, as the engine said .008-.012. Rechecked compression, and it came up to around 45 psi. I inserted a little marvel mystery oil into the cylinder to try to get rings unstuck, and it came up to about 90. I tried marvel again, still 90 psi. I then spun it over for probably close to a minute, and compression came up to 180 or so, as the rings started moving and seating off. I reinstalled the plug, and it started the first try after that with B-12. I removed and cleaned the gas tank, carburetor bowl and jet, reinstalled everything, and after it turned over a while and got the system primed back up with fresh gas, it ran great. I know it's a long post, but I hope it helps.
