G1 Engine Repairs Rebuilding Top End

I have ordered seals today and I have a couple of questions.(83 G1)
Is the service manual worth purchasing?
Does anyone have detailed instructions on replacing the seals?
I checked the compression and it is 85, is this ok?

Any other advice would be appreciated.

It runs, but only wide open. When it gets hot, it burns more smoke and bogs down.

85 lbs is low. It looks like you need more than crank seals. I would pull the engine do the seals and the top end.

When I pull the engine, I will rebuild the top end also.
