G1 battery question

Hello,

This is my first cart project. I was given an electric Yamaha g1 minus the batteries. I thought it was a sweet deal, but the thing is beat and those batteries are way expensive. I know this is probably a stupid question but I'm just trying to examine all my options.

Can I use 3 12 volt batteries instead of 6 6volt batteries to run a 36 volt cart?

Welcome to the forum.

The three 12 volt batteries will work but you'll get shorter run time and shorter total battery life. In the long run its cheaper to by six golf cart batteries.

Thanks for the response. I will probably go with the 6 batteries
