Frankenstein Club car

a few months ago i got a free club car from my job. i almost immediately started gutting and rebuilding it. in my haste i thought it would be cheaper and easier to convert to gas (the batteries were all swollen and the charger circuit wiring had melted down) now i realize the error of my ways and want to keep it electric. also, in my haste, i gutted all the electronics and have it down to bare frame. my question is, can i use a non club car controller on a club car 36v motor? i had my eye on a Melex cause it was more compact. will this work or am i screwed and have to go digging up for club car stuff?

From a theoretic approach, as long as the pedal actuator matches the controller, I don't see any problem.
Eg EZGO uses a 0K-5000K actuator and Club Car uses a 5000K to 0K actuator, so if you used a 0K-5000K controller input you would need to use an EZGO peddle actuator to make it work properly. Whether you can adapt these is your call.
Perhaps someone with some experience in this might pop in and give more precise answers.
