Fairplay Golf Cart is SLOW

I have a Fairplay golf cart that runs really slow (~8-10mph?). When you push the pedal down all the way it feels like it takes off but then almost feels like it tops out and slows down to a constant speed. Current motor controller is the Kinetek KCCA0004 0027. I have been reading a lot on the motor controller possibly needing to be upgraded to gain more speed. Is that true? If so, does anyone have a list of material to purchase and a manual/write up on how to install? Thanks in advance!

Buy a 2 pulse speed magnet for your motor. Just put it on the back of your motor and the sensor will read it. It will trick the controller into thinking you are going slow. I think they are about $10.00.

@Zman to piggy back on my above question, I’m curious what your thoughts would be on this situation I just had happen. Driving around no problems (still very slow) and my voltage meter is so dimly lit I can barely see it and we were heading back home and all sudden it started to slow more and more and then gave two beeps and died. There was no movement what so ever (not even a nudge like low battery feeling). So we get it towed back home, plug it into the charger and after 5 min on the charger I check to see if it works backwards and forwards and it does! What is weird is I had to cover up the voltage meter to see what it showed and it had all the bar lit up like it’s fully charged. Any thoughts on what happened? Or was it strictly a battery power loss and the Kinetek controller has a low power protection on it?
