Failing Voltage Regulator

I've a 1996 gas EZGO TXT. The voltage rectifier has failed for a second time. Until I was made aware it was cooking my battery (strong smell of sulfer or sewage) I was oblivious of the seconds fail. I've decided to convert to the adjustable type that club car and others use.

I wonder if anyone else have gone this route. I'll post a followup soon.

They won't fail if you buy an OEM one. $83.27 from a dealer I buy from. Also could save your ignitor from frying. Over voltage can trash it.

I converted to the other regulator and it works. If it fails I'll provide follow-up.

I talked to a dealer about their parts and was told OEM parts are no longer produced.

That is just not true. They are just getting harder to find. Many OEM parts on older carts have been discontinued. Good luck with your V/R.

I wonder, Tomd, if you could stear me to an OEM ignition coil. I'm on my second Redhalk. First one quit on one side. The second has reverted to a spark so weak it won't jump the gap on a tester and is (I believe) causing the sputter and spit back through the carb on initial take-off.
