I'm using the Briggs starter/solenoid. I just got done wiring up the new key switch. It looks great. I cant wait to turn it and hear the engine. Now all thats left is the ground wire and starter wires.

I was wondering could I still use the original bare braided wire to ground the battery? Does the engine ground wire have to be bare braided? I need a short lesson on wiring. How can I wire other electrical accessories like lights, horn and gas gauge? Thanks!

Oh and if anyone has a picture of how to hook up the throttle and choke cables I need those too.

My engine doesn't have a gov so I fabbed a bracket with a pivit arm and used a heavy wire to connect to the throttle on the carb.
Just make sure to use a good return spring.

Exhaust came with the engine. You can get one anywhere they sell lawnmower parts. Does my offer to sell you my complete engine and clutch, ready to drop in look better now?

LOL it is starting to get pricey. Thats why I cant wait to do a snowmobile engine swap.

Good news. I finished wireing the engine today and it works! I turned the key and the engine turned over. I didnt get a chance to start it however because I still need a muffler and do the gas line. But at least the wireing worked and the thing didnt catch on fire! Knock on wood.

Thanks for all the help!

I know this may sound stupid but check the oil. Most do not come with oil in them. Makeing things go together after you have all the pieces is the fun part. Good luck.

I started my engine today and man was it was LOUD with open headers! It started right up once gas reached the carb.
Is it bad to run the engine with out a muffler?

The only thing I have left to do is hook up the throttle cables. I cant think of a way to hook it up for the life of me. Any tips? I think I made a boo boo by cutting the throttle wire instead off popping the cap of to remove it from the diff.

Almost forgot, how do I wire the gas gauge? Does it ground to the frame and the other cable goes to the solenoid? Or since I grounded the neg post on the battery can I run it to the neg post?

Does anyone know of a diff lock for golf carts? Seems like its about time they start making them. Just a thought.

Hey I'm gonna go take some updated pics for yall. Dont laugh at my wiring job! It was my first time.

Ya, I know that it's bad to run the engine without a muffler.

And I won't laugh at your wiring job cause I CAN NOT wire ANYTHING. You shoulda seen me trying to wire up the lights on hte Ez-Go.

Why is it so hard to find the right muffler for this engine? I ordered a muffler for $90 from a lawnmower shop last week and ended up getting a tin can that doesnt even fit my engine when they assured me that it would.

I need this muffler but apparently they dont like to sell it without the engine.

Here is the 2nd muffler I bought just because I had a hunch that the 1st one would be the wrong one. I havent received this muffler yet. Does it look like it will work or do I need to order another one again?
If I am envisioning it correctly the muffler swings around the engine to the rear of the cart and its going to smack right into the differential. Great

Thanks. That picture is Clayboy's engine but mine just has an exhaust manifold and the outlet is up by the starter in all that conglomoration. Would it be ok to use any muffler? I thought it had to be a specific one to create proper back pressure or something like that. I dont know maybe Im just making up words n0. But I thought I read that somewhere.

Go to lawnmower shop and get muffler that looks like this one. It just clamps on the end of header pipe.

Or wait a few weeks and I will send you this one cause I am going to get a super trap or a stinger when I tear the engine down.
