EZGO Valor EX1 Lack of Torque

I have a 2020 EZGO Valor EX1 that really struggles getting up hills. I have looked into the G-Boost clutch kit, but I am wondering if anyone else has had success improving the torque. Apparently this isn't an uncommon issue, so I am hoping that there are some options that have worked for other owners of this model.

Yes a torque kit will help , it may or may not reduce your top speed depending on how strong the rear spring is.

Since this has a scooter engine and that is my personal area of strength I can recommend many parts. Slider weights and rear spring. Lightweight clutch bell and Kevlar belt. This is a Chinese gy6 scooter engine so all these parts are plenty and cheap on ebay. After your warranty is up I'd recommend a 170cc big bore kit.

I am not too familiar with this motor. I have used the G-Boost clutch kit, but it still struggles up hills. A local dealer said that EZGO just came out with their own clutch kit, but I don’t know how much it will help. Is there a particular big bore kit you would recommend?

I don't have a particular favorite. I have never personally owned a big bore engine but I have Installed a few. Ncy is the only brand name I can think of

Have you ever heard of Rolling Wrench? Their website has some engine upgrades for the GY6. It looks like the same engine in the EZGO, but I can’t tell for sure.

Yes it's a gy6 made in Taiwan instead of China. They are a little better quality but the same engine. Apparently it's good enough that ezgo worked with genuine scooters to make this fuel injection engine. If I can get ahold of the efi system I'd try it on a scooter. I know rolling wrench on YouTube never been on their site. I have a wholesale account with scooter parts 4 less everything listed on their website I get half price.

I looked on the scooter 4 less website, but I didn’t see a clutch kit. The kit that rolling wrench showed was Reveno. I’m mainly concerned with improving the torque of the engine. Any recommendations from what is listed on scooter 4 less? Thank you for your help!

You want lighter weights for the cvt. I believe the stock size for scooters is 14g not sure what yours would be to have to move the weight of the cart. You want to go 1 or 2 grams lighter. Also a lightweight clutch bell will help.

Is there a secondary clutch or rear gear that can be changed to help with the power on a 2021 Valor EX1? I’ve put a new EZGO clutch kit, but I’m still lacking power.

I bought a new EZGO Valor EX1 back in March 2021 and only this summer have I started experiencing issues with low power on hills. It seemed like it progressively got worse since June 2022 but I've maintained the cart well, I think, and even had it sent back to the dealer for a once over which revealed nothing.

If I have 4 people on the cart and some gear, I'm probably in the neighborhood of 800 lbs which is the max rated capacity for the court. Downhill is totally fine but going back up, it really starts struggling at the steepest section which is a gravel road on to a flat main road with traffic. I've had to unload passengers a few times this year but strangely never had to do that last year and pretty sure the load was similar. Not sure what could be causing this degradation.

I am going to try the GBOOST kit and see how that goes but would be very interested in what other options there are to improve torque? Is something as simple as getting smaller wheels an option? I don't care about top speed, I just want to shuttle guests to and from my boat!
