Ezgo TXT Series 36 Volt Electric Runs and Will Not Run Intermittent

Found a loose wire and terminal on the forward/reverse mechanism. Cart runs. If cart is stopped it will not move unless the f/r mechanism is moved back and forth. (During times when cart won't move the solenoid clicks when pedal is pushed) I'd assume that 23 years has taken its toll in the harsh environment of FL. I will replace the mechanism unless enlightened otherwise. My concern, have seen several reviews on replacement units that don't seem to fit or are faulty after a few months. Looking for input and suggestions. Thanks

Replacing the forward reverse mechanism seems to have resolved my issue. Guess I don't need this forum after all. A lot of good content on YouTube.

Did you perform exploratory surgery on the replaced F/R control to pinpoint the problem?
My 1990 Marathon is experiencing similar symptoms intermittently.

I pulled a few apart and performed some surgery on them. Cleaning everything and shimming the springs and make 'more better' contact. They shift a little harder but they have worked fine for years. I've heard about problems with replacements, even the 'heavy duty' units.

A neighbor bought a "heavy duty" replacement for his cart and the first time he put it in reverse it caught fire. He sent it back and the replacement for that one over travels in reverse so he has to back it up a little after switching to reverse. He wishes he had just rebuilt his original .

If the contact studs aren't aligned correctly in the forward and reverse switch that can cause that. There's a post in the resource section of the forum that explains how to line them up.
