EZGO ST-480 Brakes Too Tight

Just replaced the brake shoes on my EZGO ST 480. I put everthing back to the lowest adjustment level, yet the brakes are very tight. I can turn the drum but there is quite a bit of resistance. Drove the cart and there is definately a lot of drag felt. This is a hydraulic system. E-brake actually has slack when it is disengaged. I even disconnected it and pull the backing plate arms to there lowest position, so the e-brake dragging is out. Any suggestions? Is it okay to drive and wait for the shoes to wear a little. This cart is used at a campground sparingly, so I'm not to worried about extreme overheating.

simular thing happenbed to me, i had the to its smallest setting, but since the brake show pivots in the middle if you but the adjustment to its lowest setting it causes the other end to expand into the hub. so try expanding the adjustment some.

if you dont get whaty im trying to say let me know and i'll get some pics to better explain it. its really simple but hard to explain without pics, but its really just basic physics

Thanks Spr, I actually understand what your saying. I just removed the drums again and noticed that the leading edge of each shoe is now starting to "round" off a bit. I didn't realize it last night but the new shoes edge were square. This made the shoe a little larger at the ends. The more I move the cart the more they are rounding off. I think I will be okay.

be careful, if they're only wearing in 1 spot then your going to go through them pretty quickly
