EZGO Medalist Heard Pop and Golf Cart Won't Run

So, I bought a non running EZGO Medalist golf cart with the hope of getting it running. I've other posts to get to where I am now. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

I couldn't get anything going and the batteries wouldn't charge. When I pushed the throttle I could hear a switch click not an electrical click. Additionally the charger won't turn on to charge batteries. I bought new batteries and installed them. This solved the charger problem. However, when I pushed the throttle the cart was hesitant and jumpy and then it quit. After it quit I noticed the click sound in the throttle went away. So, I figured the microswitch went out. I accessed through the floor and decided to bypass it to see if that was the problem. I connected the two wires and turned the key and I heard a donk or pop sound under the seat and nothing worked when I pushed the pedal. It also had a rubber electrical smell under there as well. I bought and replaced the microswitch anyways, but still nothing. Also, when I turn the switch to reverse it still beeps.

Did I burn something up when I bypassed the microswitch? Could the ignition switch have anything to do with it? I'm stuck now, needing some guidance. Any help would be great fully appreciated.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum...

What year is the cart? Does the cart have a run tow switch on the controller cover? I'd start with taking the controller cover off and see if that's where the burnt smell is coming from.

It's a 1994. The cover smells like a hot glue gun. It was not coming from there. I just replaced the solenoid today, and still no luck. I noticed a small green wire had melted and disconnected. I reconnected it and turned the key on. When I pushed the pedal there was a spark at a connector with four wires in a sleeve. Those wires are coming from the box in the floor. Now what?

For starters I'd grab the wiring diagram here from the EZGO resource forum and go over everything to make sure the cart is wired correctly. Does the controller cover have a run tow switch on it? If it does it's a DCS system if not it's a series system.

Is this a 94 TXT body style Medalist or a 94 Marathon? The change was either 94 or 95, I cant remember.
