I have an older EZGO golf cart serial #441416, f3187. The golf cart runs but it doesn't have any torque and doesn't have variable speed, only runs at slow speed. The resister coil seems to run too hot. I would appeciate some help

How is it in reverse? The same or faster? The resistor coils are meant to get hot at slow speed. How old are batteries? Have you tested and load tested them? You wouldn't beleive the difference a good set of batteries make.

thanks shadowman for trying to help. reverse is the same....they are 2 year old batts....6.3v no load....6.0 load.....37.4v no load.... 36.1v load

At wide open throttle the resistors are out of the circuit and the voltage is passed directly to the motor. Your batteries at 37.4v are only 80% charged with no load and at less than 50% loaded. You may have a single battery problem or just a cable/connection issue. I would inspect, clean and tighten all the battery connections and see if that helps. A 4 gauge cable upgrade will help with torque.

Cable upgrade means all cables carrying motive power to the motor and with a resistor cart, also includes the cables to the resistors.
4ga cable from my local welding supply is $0.75 a foot and lugs are $0.65 each or you can buy complete made up sets from one of our sponsors.

You have to upgrade all 6 gauge to 4 gauge cables on the golf cart otherwise your just going to create a bottleneck somewhere else. I would test and load test each battery and check each cell with a hydrometer, seems you might have a battery issue.
