EZGO Golf Cart Governor Adjustment

Look on top of the rear end and you'll see a cable with an adjustment on the end. Tighten the nut to raise the top speed. Use a wrench to hold the square end on the cable to keep the cable from turning. It you go to far you'll start hitting the rev limiter so you'll have to do a little tweaking to get it were your not hitting the rev limiter.

Yes it's basically the same. You may have a cover that needs to be removed on a 2002 to access the adjustment. EZGO started using this cover a few years ago so they could tell if the governor had been tampered with. Once the cover is removed the adjustment is the same as the older models...

You can also use a zip tie on the spring if you don't want to adjust the nut. This way you can cut the zip tie and your back to stock. I usually just adjust the nut...

Ok I got the gov. worked out now my next question is how do I get more power "out the hole". I bought an aftermarket high tourqe clutch and installed it on the back. It made absolutly no difference, in fact it made it slower. Called the supplier and they said it will give more constant power over a longer period. I want more power off the start. Is there something I can do to give me the power??

Which clutch did you buy? A EZGO 28 degree driven clutch will give you more torque without losing speed. A shorter belt will give you more torque but you usually lose some top speed.

I got the 28 degree clutch. I guess it was just not what I was looking for. Im looking for the off road, almost 4-wheeler style takeoff power. Im mostly using the cart off road in the woods. Going thru loggin trails, moving trees, pulling stumps, and just playing in the woods. Maybe a shorter belt is the way to go. :dazed:

i agree.... i did the high torque 28 degree clutch conversion of my driven clutch got the 28 degree hub and pads and did the stronger spring in the drive clutch at same time and very dissappointed seems to take off a bit slower and seems to maybe rev a bit higher thru mid and upper range so must have more torque in mid and high but nothing off of take off also looks like my gov is adj all the way and still hit dead pedal at half pedal feels like lots of wasted go somewhere. also adj valves to 06 at same time was hoping for something noticible. guess i need a big block any thoughts on taking driven cluth back apart as i used whole number 2 would it be worth going to 1 or 3 whichever was more torque?

thanks jim

ok.. in this pic is the gov stock? or adjusted? after another look at mine my spring is stretched out twice as long as this soooo maybe mine isn't adjusted :p

I bought a 2009 EZGO RXV , it has 13 hp mtr and the governor looks like this one, I adjusted it as told to do , I only went down about 3/16 to 1/4 inch as I can tell on the threads and not increase speed any, should I go More,? I have a 03 and the adjustment worked great on it.
thank U
