EZGO Golf Cart Clutch Jerks Into Gear

Hi all just joined here--What a forum!!!!! On my 91 EZGO golf cart the engine has to spool up pretty high to get the clutch to engage, then it jerks into gear. It does it in both forward and reverse. I havent really had much chance to look at it. Even if I feather it very gently, still jerks into gear. Any ideas on where to start? Thanks and looking forward to visiting here often.

You may need to adjust the tension on the forward and reverse cables this can cause your cart to snap into gear. I think that you will need to loosen the tension I could be mistaken though. Just something to take a look at.

Thanks for the help, ftfixer.. Disassembled the comet clutch, cleaned it real good ,reassembled,situation is MUCH better, not 100%, but getting there thanks again
