EZGO Engine Removal

The replacement engine came in and I am in the process of removing the old one. I am down to the last bolts securing the block. Question, what's the easiest way to get the starter out of the way. I am concerned if I wedge the retaining clip that is on the tensioning bolt I won't be able to get it back on. Am I correct that there are four bolts securing the block, two on each side. The bolts holding the skid plat on the bottom don't screw into the block do they? Is it necessary to thake the skid plate off?

Thanks. The motor is out and I am getting ready to install the replacement. I had to borrow a clutch puller from the folks I bought the engine from. I expected them to send a traditional looking puller but what came was a long rod, threaded for a short section near the bolt head side of the rod. Do I merely remove the center bolt on the clutch and insert the rod and tighten it? What are the smaller bolts around the outter edge of the drum cover? 1995 EZGO 295

With the proper tools most things are easier. Used an impact wrench and the clutch bolt and drum came off with no trouble. Now on to the reinstall. After that, on to paint, new rubber and recovering the seat.
