EZGO Differential oil treatment

Hey Folks,

I have a 2001 EZGO TXT and I know the owner's manual says to use SAE 30 oil for the rear end, but will SAE 40 or 50 work just as good? I live in AZ and the summer temperatures can be pretty rough on carts.

Thanks,

i use a 75w synthetic oil in the summer but they will go in gear slower below 40 degrees :twocents: :hattip:

I've never heard of a rear end going out because the gear oil was too light. AZ is hot but these are golf carts, designed to be used on hot golf courses. IMO, I would use the SAE 30 as prescribed.

i used the synthetic 30w oil and gained a 1/2 -1mph and the satisfaction of good quality oil in the dif with better lubricating properties.

thats true, we trail ride for hours at a time and run v-twins so i wanted the added protection.

i guess i should have added the fact that the oil i did take out was in the diff for who knows how long.so the gain could have just been that the oil was just finally the correct level and clean.
