I bought an 2005 EZGO electric golf cart today. Batteries are 4 months old, but ran completely out of juice. When I plug in the battery charger in it doesn't turn on. I tried another charger "same as one i got with cart" and it wont kick on either. Do the batteries need to have enough voltage in them to tell the charger to charge? If so what do you recommend I do to get it charging? If no, what the heck do i do with it now? :)

Yes a 36 volt EZGO needs around 28 volts to turn on the charger. You can charge 2 batteries at a time with a 12 volt charger or individually with a 6 volt charger. Charge them until you get 28 volts or more and then switch over to the carts charger.

Thanks for the info I appreciate it. I got a smokin good deal on the golf cart, was hoping it wasnt going to be to much of a headache to get it going. The golf cart has hardly been used at all, but sat outside for the last 3 months, shortly after putting new batteries in it.

Pull the caps on the batteries before charging them and make sure the plates are covered. If they're low add distilled water until the plates are just covered. After/if the batteries fully charge you can fill them to the proper level once the charge cycle is complete.
