1998 EZGO 295 Robin hesitates and sputters when you take off. I have changed the oil, changed the air filter, changed plugs, adjusted valves to .006, pulled the carb off and fully cleaned and blew out with air. Got fuel when I press the gas pedal, the choke works fine and not stuck. This thing still hestitates and sputters when you take off with it, you have to pull out the choke to go. When it does go, it seems like it's running rich, you smell it! I don't know what's next? A new carb?

These engines seem to be very cold natured any way and are at times kinda hard to get going.does the cart have the gas smell after running for a while or just after choking to start.

It seems to smell a little more when starting, but still can smell it after warm up. Before adjusting the valves, I also had 150 lbs. of compression on both cylinders. Along with it running rich, I noticed a little smoke. It's not oil, this cart doesn't burn any oil. I appeciate any and all help everyone has given me!!! It just seems like something else is wrong? How about timing belt?

Probably not any problems with the timing belt or the timing this would be kinda unusual make sure your choke cable is adjusted correctly and we will go from there.

I checked the choke cable, there's no play in the cable, The flap is all the way opened, when not being choked.

What about the adjustment on the govenor i had this problem recently with a cart that i was working on. i was having some of the same problems when starting and cart was running very bad i had adjusted and cleaned everything that i could think of i had adjusted the govenor for a little more speed and once i backed off on the adjustment just a little it started running fine.this may not help your cart but its worth a try only takes a couple of minutes.
