EZGO 2 Stroke Golf Cart Backfiring

Hello folks, back again. I did a top end rebuild on my 1989 EZGO 2 stroke golf cart a month ago, seems to run great & all the sudden starts to backfiring until it stalls... I took off the carburetor and cleaned, still same thing. Any idea what the problem may be? Thanks.
 
i would check for spark as soon as it stalls out, its fairly common for old coils to give out when they get warm/hot.
 
Backfire coming from the carb is caused by the butterfly not totally closing when you release the accelerator pedal. Check accel/throttle cable and allow a little play. That kind of backfire is dangerous as it can cause fire starting from the filter box (specially if gas and oil have accumulated over time)
