engine upgrade

I'm looking to upgrade my 87 CC. I saw the Kawasaki 16 hp for $1500, and the FE 290. Is there a motor in between them that will bolt into my CC, if so, can you tell me where to buy it. [email protected]

From what I have read the FE350 is a bolt in and possibly the FE 400. Someone else should chime in here with more info and sources.

Neither will bolt right in. The mounting plate will need upgraded along with the air box and the control box will interfere with the hose to the air box. I did it to my 89. Later I switched frames to a 94. But it can be done.

OK, I failed to note it was an 87.

Thats ok. It can be done and it was easy to do. I first started by just drilling out the mounting plate for the engine. Later had grooves milled for engine alignment. I had a spare air box and I cut the old style contol box lid to make room for the hose. I did have to fab up an accelerator cable to the carb.
