Drive clutch- Is it bad?

I am in the process of overhauling a late 80's model (I think...can't remember for sure...) marathon. I noticed when driving it for a few minutes that it seemed like the clutch was slipping. When I looked at it in the shop, the drive clutch moves very freely by hand, sliding inwards all the way until it hits the pulley for the starter/generator. I haven't worked on the gas ezgos much, so I thought it may be different, but I checked the drive clutches on 3 different yamahas and a club car this evening, and they were all pretty firm with little movement.... Is the clutch bad? I'm leaning toward yes, but want a confirmation in case the old ezgos are different. Any opinions from the ezgo experts?

Well, dumb mistake. When I was looking at the Yamahas and CC, I didn't think about the drive belt being on, which is what was keeping them from moving in too much. I pulled the drive belt on a yamy, and it went all the way in, as well. I guess that clutch may not have been bad after all. But, where can I buy a clutch puller??? And, can I buy the pulley that holds the starter/generator belt without buying an entire clutch? We broke the pulley trying to get the clutch off. We got the clutch off this time, but I need a puller for future jobs. Thanks for the help!
