drive belt (96 EZ-GO gas)

The number on the belt is 72054G 1 1/8 wide X 41 3/4 od. The cart jerks when I start out, and when I try to slow down. Would a shorter or wider belt work better? What does the parts book call out for my 96 EZ-GO GAS, How can I check to see what I should have on it.

The stock belt measures approx. 1-1/8" Wide x 42" O.D. OEM # 72054-G01. Are you sure the clutches are in good shape? Are they opening and closing smoothly?

could be the throttle linkage out of adjustment, the starter needs to engage before the throttle butterfly starts to open
