Been reading posts on here and you guys seem very knowlegable. I have a 96 club car 48v. It stopped running awhile back, all it would do is lunge forward a little bit. Charger comes on fine. I bypassed the obc and it runs like a champ. Do i need a new obc?

Hope this helps but you have a obc and then you also have a controller, if you bypassed the obc and it worked fine then I believe I would change it out. My cart would buck and not accelerate when you pushed down on the pedal, it was my controller that was bad.

I think the negative - is thought the obc< i was testing things and i came up with the negative- was not right somewhere so i bypassed the obc and everything worked fine. Ginna order a new one and i'll post my results of that. Thanks for your input.

You may well find that the OBC will still charge the batteries even if you have connected the negative direct from the solenoid to the battery. The OBC wire to the solenoid is there (on my 2000DS)to act as a cut off when the charger is plugged in, so you can't drive the cart. It just means that you won't have the cut off safety function. Its worth a try before paying out good money for a new OBC

I have the obc bypassed and the charger turns on and off but when drive the cart it is very slow. Im wondering if its runs half speed or something because i've bypassed the computer.
I have 7.8-7.9 on all the batteries while at full throttle. Anyone have any ideas?

The OBC is part of the charging circuit so the bypass should not affect performance. Sounds like suspect batteries.

Actually i just figured it out. Last fall when it stopped running i started checking everything i could think of. One thing was the potentiometer. I must have moved it while it was apart. I adjusted it a little and the speed is back to normal. Batteries are older but seems to run just fine. With the obc bypassed i dont think its charging fully because it shuts off rather quick.
The new obc will be in Friday so i'll post the results of that this weekend. Thank you to everyone. You all rock!!!!

Thats what i thought too. For some reason it shuts off on its own after about a 1/2 hour or so.
So i may have an issue with that, but I'm gonna change the computer and go from there. Thanks again i'll keep u posted. By the time i'm done maybe I'll be a pro like u guys.

You may have a problem with the OBC but the charging problem is unlikely to be related to the OBC/Solenoid connection. You have not in effect bypassed the OBC from a charging perspective but merely bypassed the negative feed from the OBC to the solenoid. The OBC is connected to Negative via the B- Terminal on the controller and the "hall effect" through the wire that passes thru the hole in the OBC that is critical to the charging function.
