me and a friend were working on our schools golf cart. im not sure wat year it is but it has a run/tow, maintenance switch and i think its has a 9 pin connector on the controller. i was testing the solenoid from the 2 to 3 terminal and when i connected the leads of my digital multimeter it sparked a little. i looked down and realized i had accidentally left my meter lead in the amps slot instead of puttung it back in the slot for volts. so my question is did i fry just the solenoid or did i fry the controller too?

Welcome to the forum.

It's hard to say without some more info.
The PDS and DCS controllers don't take arcs very well. Was the switch in the run position when it sparked? What exactly is the cart doing, or not doing? Does the reverse buzzer still work? What year is the cart?

yea it was in the run position with the pedal depressed. the original complaint was solenoid clicked when pedal pressed but no movement. the reverse buzzer does still come on but the solenoid doesnt click at all now. im not sure of the year. the forward and reverse selection is on a lever not a switch on the dash if that helps.

Ok we're going to need to know what year the cart is so we know if it's a PDS or DCS system. From what you describe it could be the controller. There's some test procedures in the EZGO Resource Forum.
