Cushman Golfster Golf Cart Questions and Troubleshooting

Howdy folks. I am the proud owner of a Cushman Golfster electric golf cart and have some questions on troubleshooting. My neighbor had it sitting under a tree and asked if I wanted it (he even included the 36V charger!) free. Having just finished a college class in fundamentals of electricity I thought this would be a great opportunity to put to use what I have learned. The batteries will be checked later this week to see if they can be at least usable for the short term. It looks like the controller needs to be removed and rebuilt as one or more of the copper contacts appear burned. I can't find any plates on the cart as to when it was built. The only info is on the motor. It is a GE 36V motor. The number on the motor is 5BC48JB500E and Cushman P/N 882294. I would like to know of anyone that supplies parts for these carts. (BTW I did do a search but nothing came up...I will try using different search parameters). Thanks, Jack

Thanks, I already tried them. I need the copper contactor blocks and decided to make them from some copper bus bar stock. I can get enough stock from a local electrical supply store and cutting, machining, drilling, and tapping the holes is real easy. One block on line is $18.00 or so and buying enough bus bar stock to make all of the blocks is $22.00 so I save about $70.00! Next after I get it running is the upholstery and welding a utility bed on the back (hinged and removable of course)
So far the best deal on batteries is Costco at $65.00 each. I might try EDTA to see if I can recharge the plates in the current batteries as they look very serviceable and will take a charge. The Lester charger works, but the old style turn the dial timer is stuck so I will have to figure something out...maybe a heavy duty rated outlet timer. It's just gonna be used here on the farm so looks are not important.

I have a line on a cart with the same GE motor. I haven't got it yet. I'm concerned I need a new motor. Did you ever find a supplier for parts for it?
