Convert Club Car Resistor Golf Cart To Controller

I want to convert my 90 Club Car resistor golf cart to a controller cart. I have a pot box and 2 controllers one with 3 big lugs on it and one with 4. Would a 95 Club Car wiring diagram be correct just ignore the obc hookup? It is a curtis p-b2 pot box.

Well , i am getting closer, andy has set me up with a stock 48 volt diagram 95 to 03. If anyone has one without the obc in there it would be a big help. This is proably pretty simple for someone that has done a few, But i'm trying not to fry parts.

Anyone have any pics of where and how to mount the pot box and controller? Like about on a 95 cc. I know this sounds like a dumb ?, but looking for ideas. I have seen some pots mounted vertical and some horizontal. Removing the old resistor stuff this morning.

Thanks HRC, I had seen them before but couln't find them. I am tore down and ready to start mounting. I need to fabricate some stuff first. It,s coming.

One thing I did not add here as I forgot. I have converted this cart to 48 volts with 6 8 volt batteries, 48 volt Lester charger and 48 volt solenoid. It runs well, but I need the controller for the slow speed, don't like the coils getting hot when I cruise slow.

Good luck with the project and keep us posted. I've done this conversion on old E-Z-GO's but never on a Club Car... Once your done it will be well worth it.

Car53 has some good pics of his install on bu, members carts page 2. Gave me some more ideas. What's the advantage of leaving the vlide in and using resistors in it? Maybe saving the cost of the pot box.

I would say the only advantages are the cost and not having to mount the pot box. If I were doing one for myself I think I'd go with the pot box...

I just went and looked at the pics. He did a nice job on the wiring...

I pulled my vglide the other day and it was on its last legs, burn marks and full of black crap, not making a nice flat to flat contact. I don't think it would have made the summer. I got the controller mounted today is all. The nice old lady that lives up the road brought her cart down with no brakes so i worked on that a couple hours. I'm getting like COPB, can't beat them old ladies off with a stick. :rotflmao:

The pot box works the controller by OHM'S only it never see's the cart voltage. It's a secondary system of the cart.
A Club Car V-Glide depends on what year it is. If it's a coil cart then it see's all the voltage that the batteries can send threw it. This is why they burn up and get nasty looking over time. The contacts can only handle so much amperage & volts before they melt down.
You don't want one to weld itself together at full speed beleive me.

Threads are made for hijacking.
When you feel the need to talk about wiring, just toss it in. In the meantime, we'll keep this thread current and at the top of the list.

Having a problem mounting the pot. Can't get full travel out of it, been messing with the acc. rod. I have it temp. mounted vertically. Can,t seem to get the right combo here, lengthen the arm on the pot or move the ball connecter up the rod? I must be missing some thing here, is it in the pedal stop underneath the cart or is it rod adjustment? When i lengthen the rod i can't get it back to off. Any ideas?

To get more travel, can you move the rod closer to the pot, or further out on the pedal bell crank?
