Hi all,
I'm new to the site as I have just bought my first cart and would like to know if I did alright. I just bought a 1995 Medalist 36 volt. The cart runs fine and has 6 brand new Deka 8GGC2 Gel batteries. It runs 13 mph on flat ground according to GPS. A little slower uphill and of course faster down. It has new stock size tires and there is no top or winshield. Unfortunately, it did not come with a charger and I am now shopping for one. I need to find a charger that is correct for gel batteries as they have different requirements. Anyway, I plan to start customizing this thing. I paid $850 and the batteries alone retail for almost $1500. I bought the cart from a battery retailer who must have got a bulk deal on these. Research tells me that these are the best gel batteries out there. I would like to hear comments and suggestions on several items.

1. What do you think of this particualr model cart?
2. Did I get a good deal?
3. Do you have any suggestions for chargers?
4. Your opinion on these particular batteries or gel batteries in general for carts?
5. Is 13 MPH to be expected from this cart in stock form? If not, what should I expect?
6. Where would you start for performance mods? I want to go faster without changing motor or converting to 48 volt.
7. Will bigger tire slow me down or speed me up? What other mods besides lift are needed with bigger tires to maintain performance?

Thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions!

Wow, those are some pretty expensive batteries. I googled the model number and if those batteries are new then you got a very sweet deal. I have no idea if they are good for golf cars but a good battery charger is a must. You don't want to fry them.

Spend some time on research for a good battery charger. I would suggest looking at a Schauer as one of your options.

A taller tire at the same RPM will go further with each revolution then a smaller diameter tire. MATH....but that's another subject
