coil and ignitor 1997 DS

How hard is it to replace a coil and ignitor on a !997 clubcar DS.Does the flywheel have to come off.Thanks for the help.

it is pretty difficult to replace the coil, but the flywheel doesnt have to come off, it's only difficult because the engine cover is in the way and near impossible to completely remove with the engine in the car. the ignitor is not too hard to replace

your coil/ignitor is a single unit...ignitor built ionto coil........you can do it without taking engine out just remove exhaust and the plastic shrould will come out in 2 peices..........4 phillips head screws hold center peice to the main part and the main part is the hardest but can be done........this is the way i have always done it.......it eliminates the need to realign engine.......after the shrould is off coil is right there..........................................

a '97 has a separate ignitor, but if the coil is to be replaced, then the newer coil with built in ignitor is the way to go, as it will bolt right on.

hiwaydog are you sure cause they changed that system in mid 96, i have seen 96,s with both setups but never a 97.........................................
