Club Car won't run after replacing starter

I have a 2000 Club Car Carryall I cart with a 290 engine. It wouldn't turn over so I replaced the starter. Now it turns over, but does not start. I have spark at the plug. I have fuel to the carburetor, but the fuel is coming out toward the air filter. It doesn't seem to be flowing toward the engine (spark plug is dry after repeated cranking). Compression is 140 lbs. Valves are functioning properly (not stuck). I have cleaned the carburetor once. I am running out of ideas. I could really use some help.

Are you sure you have the right starter? Club Car uses different starters depending on the year. Up to 1996.5 Club Car engines turned counter clockwise. 1996.5 and newer turn clockwise. If you have a starter for a 1996 or older Club Car it will turn the engine in the wrong rotation and cause fuel to spit out of the carb. I'm not saying this is your problem but it's what I would check first.

Thanks guys. It was the right starter but it was wired wrong. Swapped wires and now everything is great. Starts and charges wonderfully. Thanks again!
