Club Car steering problem saga

I talked to (sent pictures) Glen at Jake's Lift Kits and the kit I have is definitely NOT one of theirs. The kit may be an inexpensive import marketed by Buggies Unlimited.
Got to go and make a call.

Buggies Unlimited just started selling Jakes Lift Kits a few months ago. Up until then ALL of BU's lift kits were from China as far as I know. I believe they still sell the Chinese made kits but also sell Jakes Lift Kits.

HotRod, you are correct. BU admitted they had another problem with the kits but not my problems. Seems the tie rod end would not fit into the spindle bar because of a wrong angle. They state that they have made fixes for the problem. Some type of patch that you use the hole on the spindle arm to bolt this fix onto to allow insertion of tie rod end.

Numerous phone calls to BU results in initiating the "bad" customer service routine. Forwarded to dead space or message center. I am popular up there. Seems I am the first to want warranty on a six year old lift kit

I haven't had a chance to take a good look at the pictures in your other thread but I really don't think the lift caused your problem. Something got hit or run over and bent either a suspension component or broke the rack. I'd try unhooking the tie rod ends and see if you get full steering left to right. Keep us posted...

Previously, I mentioned that in my hurry to use the cart I did not algn the wheels. They were definitely off. Each tire pointed out depicting a short drag link. Again, I mentioned putting the cart up after the granddaughters used it and I hd trouble turning left. I disconnected the tie rod and spun the steering wheel. Three full turns lock to lock. Found center, straightened the wheels and the tie rod stud in 2" short.

I still do not understand why it would not turn left. Done it for over six years.

Well, time has recorded a number of conversations with Buggies Unlimited. I have also had some discussions with Jake's Carts. As you know, Glenn posted about the Chinese made kit.

HotRod, nothing bent. Just lousy QC.

This Thursday 3:57 PM, I have finished removing the China junk and installing a Jake's 6" front end lift kit. Holy Cow, that thing was easy to put on. Looks strong. Bolted up to tie rod and drag link with nooooo prblem. Adjusted drag link and got it to "about 1/8 inch.

Wish I had some sense back when I ordered the China Kit.

Thanks Glen and Steve.

I just figured if you were using the cart for 4 years like you mentioned in another post you would have noticed it didn't steer to the left a long time ago.

I'm glad you got it sorted out. The Allsports lifts are well made in the USA and you shouldn't have anymore problems.
