Club Car Motor Cables to Short With Lift Kit

On a 2001 Club Car golf cart is it normal for the motor cables to be short to reach after installing a 6" lift kit? I thought this was odd after I went to hook the motor back up and they wouldn't reach.

I installed a 6 inch Jakes spindle lift kit and added an extra leaf to re-arch the springs an additional 1-2 inches and everything worked. My local Club Car dealer had longer brake cables in stock and thats all I changed.
