I have a electric Club Car golf cart with 5 solenoids how do i tell if a solenoid is good or bad? Also does each solenoid power something different like one for reverse one for low speed etc. Thanks, Cartaholics Golf Cart Forum is a great site.

One solenoid is the master and the others control the carts speed. You should get full battery pack voltage across the large terminals as each one activates as you push the throttle pedal down. Thanks for the compliment about the forum.

Thanks but is there a solenoid for reverse also, if so which one? Also when you say the large terminals do you mean the terminal that the coiled spring hooks to and the one that the long bar goes all the way across all 5 solenoids?

One other problem I noticed just now is that on the first solenoid that hooks to the coiled spring when I step on the go pedel there is a bright arc when it starts out. It is very rusty do you think that I am not getting good connection here?

Sorry for all the questions but sometimes I am not the brightest star in the sky and I must depend on those who are wiser than I am.

Yes the terminals that the coils and buss bars are connected to would be the large terminals. If there's a spark you have a bad connection, bad solenoid or bad resistor coil. The connections need to be clean and tight. There is no reverse solenoid, reverse is controlled by the forward and reverse switch.
