Club Car Battery Charging Issue

I have a '97 Club Car, 48-V, with brand new batteries and a charging issue. For some reason, the golf cart is not calling for a charge so the battery charger never turns on. It has been WEEKS since it was charged and it needs a charge. HELP!??

Welcome to the forum. :hattip: Check the fuse on the face of the charger and the one on the cart by the shifter. If your pack voltage has gone to low, then it won't kick the charger in. Is there another cart that you can try your charger on?

The charger worked fine for about a month, then one night it just didn't work. I've tried another charger but it didn't do anything either. I haven't tried my charger on another cart, but will tomorrow. I did check the fuse on the face of the charger, but I'm not familiar with one by the shifter. I'll have to check into that tomorrow as well. Thanks!

It's around the shifter, it comes down from the charging port. Should be a gray wire with a yellow fuse holder. Also check the #10 wires from the charging port to the batts.

If another charger does not work on youre cart its prob your OBC!! On Board Computer. It seems like you need to replace these things every time you replace youre batts!

Okay, I've checked the fuse you mentioned ( it has a yellow rubber protective covering) and it is NOT bad. If it's the OBC (I didn't know there was one), how or what do I do about checking or re-setting it? Thanks!

Okay, I've finally gotten around to trying to reset the OBC. I cannot find the referenced "tow/run" switch. Does my '97 even have one? If so, where the heck is it?? When you refer to the battery pack (disconnect the negative) does it matter which battery it comes off of? A friend of mine thinks it might be the "receptacle" on the cart where the charger's round plug fits in. it appears that there is a degree of loose-ness with the wires inside the "receptacle". I appreciate your thoughts/ideas/input.
