Club Car Backfires When Starting and Stopping

My 97 Club Car will backfire sometimes when you step on throttle to start the golf cart. It also backfires when you're stopping or shutting it down occasionally.

Again, not that I am a mechanic, but I found on my 93 Club Car that the carburetor was so worn out that the butterfly valve would not close completely. When this stays slightly open, it would allow some fuel to enter the cylinder and that would ignite and run the cart backwards.

I bought a new carburetor and that issue has disappeared. I am now able to adjust the throttle linkage correctly. :twocents:

And, (I posted before I was ready), I have found that the same problem on startup was happening. The cart would backfire because the butterfly valve was not completely closed. Again, it allows too much fuel into the cylinder and when you send a spark, it EXPLODES! (or backfires in laymans terms)
You can also check the throttle cable adjustment to set the butterfly to open after the starter is turning and closed before the throttle pedal is fully released.
