Welcome to the forum.

Is this a PDS,DCS or series cart and what year is it? It could be several things causing the problem. We need more info on what type of cart it is first. Also make sure all your cable connections are clean and tight.

Cart is a EzGo/ 89 Marathon ,electric. All cables are clean and tight, #4 gauge welding cable.Batteries are new, I have 2 seperate 36 volt power sources for extended drives,I completly rebuilt the cart, cut and stretched it to seat 8,radio,lights,etc. although problem happens with no load and not alot of drive time.

Does this cart have a controller or resistors? Does this problem happen every time you use the cart? It could be bad contacts in the forward and reverse switch or a bad connection somewhere.

89 Marathon is a solid state system, I believe its a controler, its mounted vertical with what I believe is the selenoid.Eventually the cart will cut out,I suspected the F/R switch, but also thought something may be getting to hot because after sitting a few minutes the cart would go.

your soleniod could be going bad and working when it feels like it so from your post i think what i would do is replace the solenoid and see if that takes care of it...........they do go bad that way..................................
