Brake Lights

I just bought my first cart. A 2006 PDS 36 volt. I need to get working brake lights on it and am not sure what I need to do this. On the dash it has three key positions- ON,OFF and a Light symbol. When I turn the key to the light symbol I have working head lights and tail lights. The problem is nothing happens when I press the brake pedal. I need the lights to light up when the brake is pressed if the lights are not on and to get brighter when the lights are on. Not sure if I just need to change wiring or if I need something else. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

I found another post on here that was able to take care of my problem. Wired in a plunger switch that contacts the brake pedal arm. Glad for the great info available on this site. Thanks.

Every now and then if a customer wants a cheap install on a brake light, we will drill a hole through the brake pedal on the left side of the pedal. There is a hole on the back side of the pedal from the factory. You will need to ream it out a little and put a horn button in and wire that for your brake switch.
